Christian Bale visits victims of Colorado shooting attack

“Batman: The Dark Knight Rises” star Christian Bale travelled to Aurora, Colorado on Tuesday to offer his condolences to all those affected by the deadly rampage on Friday morning at a screening for his new movie in a movie theatre.

Actor Christian Bale, who plays lead character “Batman” in the latest installment in Christopher Nolan’s super-hit trilogy, travelled to Aurora on Tuesday where he visited a memorial for the victims near the movie theatre which was showing the highly-anticipated film. He also met with survivors of the shooting attack that took 12 lives and injured 58 others.

One of the survivors of Friday’s shooting, Carey Rottman, posted two pictures of Christian Bale visiting him in his hospital room on Facebook. "Wow!!! Thank you so much for the visit Christian!! What a great guy! Still in shock!," Rottman wrote, according to CNN.

An assistant for Susan Fleishman, executive vice president for Warner Bros. corporate communications, told reporters that Christian Bale was not representing Warner Bros.

"Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Brothers," she said, according to reports.

Moreover, Christian Bale thanked police officers and paramedical staff who responded to the attack that was allegedly carried out by a lone gunman, 24-year-old James Eagan Holmes early Friday morning.

Reportedly, Janie Bowman-Hayes, assistant vice president of surgical services at sister hospital Swedish Medical Center, said she was visiting The Medical Center of Aurora to thank the staff members who were taking care of victims of the mass shooting.

"When we got there, then we found out he [Christian Bale] was there," she said, adding: "He just said he wanted to come to thank all of us because he has been thinking about this. He knows the whole world has been thinking about this," she said. "He took it upon himself to come and thank us."

She went on to say that the staff appreciated Bale's visit. "He did this out of his heart, and you could really tell. It was so sincere," Bowman-Hayes said. "It was just, `Thank you."'

Humbly-dressed in a black T-shirt and jeans, Christian Bale shook hands and agreed to have his photo taken with employees of the Medical Center. He was joined by his wife Sibi Blazic who stopped by the 12 crosses erected for each of the slain victims outside the movie theatre.

Previously, Christian Bale previously issued a statement saying: "Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them."
