New models for the value-based pricing of pharmaceuticals are actively in development. Dr. Mark Edwards, Director at ST&I Partnerships Ltd and former Director of Science and Medical Public Affairs at Pfizer, has put together the agenda for this conference "Having chaired last year's Clinical Discovery conference, I was delighted to be asked to design the agenda for the 2012 meeting. Being able to measure the impact of health research, clinical or otherwise, is critical to the successful application of research outcomes and to inform future research direction and funding. Yet, it's something that's only relatively recently been given heightened attention. For research into innovative medicines in particular, the advent of the era of value-based pricing makes this focus all the more vital. Adopting the central ethos of Clinical Discovery, namely the sharing of knowledge, best practices and learnings, the 2012 conference will show how the UK clinical research community can advance this topic and work for 'collaborative advantage'.
