Bermuda-based Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd announced that David Bigley has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Head of U.S. Property Catastrophe Reinsurance.
He joined Endurance in 2003, and now reports to Stephen Young, Executive VP, Chief Underwriting Officer and Head of Global Catastrophe Reinsurance.
Endurance also announced that Rene Lamer and Stefan Beine, both Senior Vice Presidents in Endurance’s Global Catastrophe Reinsurance team, have assumed the roles of Head of Asia Pacific Property Catastrophe Reinsurance and Head of Europe Property Catastrophe Reinsurance, respectively.
Young described Bigley as a “key contributor to the growth of our U.S. property catastrophe business;” adding that he has “strong technical underwriting capabilities” and has “built strong relationships and partnerships with our brokers and cedants that have been key to our success in this market.”
Young also explained that with the “realignment of regional roles, our underwriting leadership team is now well-positioned to focus on their respective geographies to continue to build out our global catastrophe portfolio.”
The bulletin indicated that Bigley “joined Endurance’s U.S. operation as a Property Reinsurance underwriter in May 2003 coincident with Endurance’s renewal rights transaction with HartRe. In 2005, he relocated to the Bermuda office where he was promoted to Vice President, Property Reinsurance.”
He earned an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a BA in Economics from Trinity College. He also has an Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designation and serves as Secretary of the Bermuda Independent Underwriters Association, a role he has held since 2008.”
