Jack Welch and Rupert Murdoch apparently agree about Mitt Romney.
The former chairman and CEO of General Electric seconded Murdoch's tweets about the presumptive Republican presidential nominee needing new campaign advisers in a post on Twitter last night.
Hope Mitt Romney is listening to Murdoch advice ont campaign staff..playing in league with Chicago pols..No room for amateurs
Welch's tweet prompted a response from Mitt Romney Central, a grassroots organization that promotes Romney's candidacy:
@jack_welch No offense, but this ain't Romney's first run at the presidency. His team is the best there is; that's why he's made it this far
The Welch and Murdoch tweets are noteworthy because they come from such high-profile business leaders, and Romney has been touting his private-sector experience as a selling point for his candidacy.
Murdoch tweeted on Monday that his postings on the micro-blogging site had gotten some Romney people "upset," so the News Corp. leader posted that "of course" he wants Romney to win in November.
Meanwhile, Welch told CNBC earlier this year that Romney "is the most qualified leader I've ever seen run for the presidency of the United States." In that same interview, Welch touted Romney's record at Bain Capital, his tenure as Massachusetts governor, and his leadership of the 2002 Winter Olympics as examples of what made the Republican the "most qualified."
