Obama is shadowing Romney's foreign trip

While Republican opponent Mitt Romney is traveling to Great Britain, Israel, and Poland, the Obama administration is busy dealing with ... Great Britain, Israel, and Poland.

This morning, President Obama is signing the United States-Israel Enhanced Security Cooperation Act, which the White House says "will help deepen our security cooperation with Israel."

Yesterday, Obama aides held a meeting on security efforts at the London Olympics.

As Romney questioned some of the preparation for the games, White House spokesman Jay Carney said Obama "made it clear that he has the utmost confidence in our close friend and ally, the United Kingdom, as they finalize preparations to host the London Olympics."

The administration also announced Wednesday that Defense Secretary Leon Panetta met with Polish Defense Minister Tomasz Siemoniak.

"Panetta believes the strong defense relationship between Poland and the United States underpins a strategic partnership that helps provide for the security of the North Atlantic community," said a Pentagon statement. "Siemoniak expressed full confidence in the United States-Polish friendship and alliance."

We don't think these British, Israeli, and Polish announcements are coincidences.

It just so happens that all of them address an aspect of Romney's critique of Obama foreign policy.

As Olivier Knox of Yahoo! News put it:

Dear Britain: The White House wants you know that even if Mitt Romney may harbor doubts about your ability to pull off the Olympics, President Barack Obama "has the utmost confidence" in you. In fact, the Obama administration would also like Israel and Poland -- the two countries the Republican standard-bearer will visit next -- to know it has their back, too.
