The U.S. Supreme Court went too far in its June ruling declaring the federal health reform law constitutional, say nearly half of respondents to the latest IFAwebnews.com poll.
Exactly 48% say the court “went too far” in its ruling, which deemed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act constitutional on grounds that the individual mandate is a tax. The court rejected the argument that the fee assessed to Americans who don’t buy health insurance, starting in January 2014, exceeds Congress’ authority under the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution.
Another 29% of respondents said the ruling “was perfect,” and the remaining 23% said the court’s ruling “didn’t go far enough.”
