The official website of the Indian Consulate in Dubai [ Images ] has apparently been hacked, according to a report.
A glitch in the website www.cgidubai.com is leading users to strange advertisements.
According to The Gulf News, consulate officials, however, insist that the popular site has not been hacked, and that it is just a 'technical snag'.
"The website is not hacked. We are facing some technical issues and it will be sorted out on Tuesday," Ashok Babu, Information and Commerce Consul at Consulate General of India [ Images ], said.
But technical experts claimed that if the website had not been hacked, it would not redirect to other sites or advertisements.
"If it was a technical issue, people would just face access issues; then it wouldn't redirect. It clearly looks like it has been hacked," the report quoted an IT expert, as saying.
Meanwhile, a number of Indian residents said they had been trying to access the website, but had failed.
