Megadeth’s heavy metal bandleader Dave Mustaine declared during a show in Singapore that President Obama is behind the Aurora, Colorado mass murders.
As reported by TMZ, Mustaine and Megadeth tied the president to not only the Aurora shooting, but other similar tragedies throughout the country:
“Back in my country, my president, he’s trying to pass a gun ban, so he’s staging all of these murders, like the ‘Fast And Furious’ thing down at the border. Aurora, Colorado, all the people that were killed there, and now the beautiful people at the Sikh temple,” said Mustaine.
He was not done yet, though: “I don’t know where I’m gonna live if America keeps going the way it’s going because it looks like it’s turning into Nazi America. Mustaine’s full rant may be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pla yer_embedded&v=KyDmoCDgqBk
Mustaine is a born-again Christian, and has often prosletized from the stage. His criticism of Obama is not new, and in fact, is par for his course. He recently interviewed with Canadian conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and declared himself a dyed-in-the-wool “birther.” Specifically, Mustaine offered up this gem:
“Why hasn't somebody moved to impeach this man? With all of the proof about his birth certificate being fake. And you see the signs in Kenya that say 'the birthplace of Barack Obama.' Hello?! C'mon, guys. How stupid are we right now?”
Meanwhile, one of the actual survivors of the Aurora Massacre has denounced Mustaine’s remarks. Carli Richards, who is recovering from several gunshot wounds, said, “Some people think the president is a good scapegoat but he didn't shoot me.”
Richards also reminded us all that the “climate” of hate which we have apparently entered will, in the end, victimize us all:
“Everybody is emotional at this time and needs to blame somebody, I guess,” Richards told the gossip website. “I don't think they realize the consequences of not being responsible for your own actions and James Holmes needs to be held accountable for his, to whatever way the justice system deems fit."
Mustaine’s hatred of Obama is a relatively recent reversal of his most recent past. He was a strong supporter of the president in the last election, even raising money through concerts. Since he has sworn off drugs and alcohol, however, his born-again Christianity has apparently brought along with it an un-Christian (or very Christian?) hatred of “the other.”
Mustaine’s dislike, hatred, whatever, of the president, he says, is based on his belief that Obama staged these recent tragedies in order to solidify support for universal gun bans.
Thankfully, there’s been no word from the White House about this latest “angry white male’s” race to the bottom of the sanity well.
