Despite the tension in the political and military relations between Cairo and Tel Aviv, Egypt sent a new ambassador to Tel Aviv. This is a surprising step taken by Egypt,l Aviv, indicating that Egypt, although it is ruled by a president who is a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood they still want the continuation of political relations with Israel.
A source at the Egyptian Embassy in Tel Aviv, confirmed the report and noted that Atef Salem Sayed al-Ahl, who previously served as Egypt's Consul-General in EilatEilat, is now Egypt's new ambassador in Israel.
Egyptian media, further reported that Egypt's president approved the appointment of 35 new ambassadors at the beginning of August. He convened with them on Sunday to guide them on Egypt's new international relations policy.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Maariv newspaper reported that the Egyptian defense minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi called his counterpart Ehud BarakEhud Barak on Sunday, confirming Egypt's commitment to the peace agreement.
Maariv newspaper also quoted Barak as saying, that the operation in Sinai shows demonstrates the need to impose security and prevent terrorism by Egyptians over there, pointing out that the Israeli army reinforced its troops along borders with Egypt, including air and ground forces .
Regarding the latest developements of the situation in Sinai, Egyptian security source said that security was increased Sunday in the Egyptian resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh, in southern Sinai, following the death of two Bedouins in clashes with police.
Suliman al-Ateeq and Mahmud Atwa were bringing a vehicle stuffed with Heroin into Sharm el-Sheikh when they ran into an ambush, the sources said.
"One of them tried to attack the police in order to escape, therefore the police opened fire killing the two men".
After the men were killed, furious Bedouin burned a police car and opened fire on Egyptian police. Egyptian security sources said the situation had been brought under control, the security source added.
In the meantime, Egypt's military detained two suspected militants on Sunday morning in the northern Sinai.
According to the report, Security forces raided an area south of Sinai city of el-Arish and held eleven people for investigation, releasing all but two, whom they described as Jihadist members.
Moreover, investigations by Egyptian security forces show that Mossad agents entered over 15 kilometers into the Egyptian Sinai, accompanied by two Bedouins, with footprints and car tracks being found.
According to Egyptian security, four Israeli Mossad agents officers infiltrated Egyptian territory last week, reportedly to carry out an assassination operation against Jihadist militants, involved in the killing of Israeli tourists.
Opinion:
There is not yet any clear approach towards the political situation between Egypt and Israel.
Egyptian President sent a new ambassador to Israel and, of course, Israel would welcome this step, at the same time this action disappointed the Egyptian street.
I think that Egyptian President must be nicknamed by the "Man of Surprises". Every day we hear a new decision opening the door to many possibilities. After all, I still think that the Egyptian President does not have the experience that excelled the former presidents of Egypt and therefore we have to be patient to understand his ideas and his decisions. Bearing in mind that his decisions are certainly not independent, but planned by the international organization of the Muslim Brotherhood.
