An employee killed two people and later shot himself at a New Jersey supermarket on Friday morning.
The employee went on a shooting rampage after apparently being ticked off over something. The shooting resulted in the death of three people, including the shooter himself. The incident has caused quite a panic in the New Jersey area.
According to reports, the attack took place at around 4 a.m. inside a market known as Pathmark grocery store on Route 9 in Old Bridge, N.J., which is a suburb located about 25 miles from New York. The shooter apparently got ticked off after an argument with his co-workers and decided to deal with it by shooting them and himself.
The victims are reported to be an 18-year-old woman and another man who is said to be 24-year-old. Both the victims of the shooting belonged to Old Bridge and were employees at the Pathmark store. At the time of the incident, there were around 12 to 14 employees present at the store, but the store was closed at that time.
Pathmark was scheduled to open at 6 a.m. and the employees were working in preparation for the next day. According to the details which have been gathered so far, the gunman, who was 23-year-old, got into an argument with his co-workers. The argument got a little out of hand and the employee left the store at around 3:30 a.m. and retrieved an AK-47 and a handgun from his car. When his co-workers saw him coming from his car with the weapons, they locked the store and did not let him enter. He retaliated by shooting at the windows and entered after breaking them. He then fired at least 16 times at different places in the store before shooting two of his colleagues.
After shooting the two victims, he pointed the gun towards himself and shot once. The suspect was killed at the scene and when the police arrived, they did not have to use weapons of any sort to get in the store.
The three people who were killed at the NJ store were pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured, as most of the employees had fled when they saw the gunman coming in from outside.
The police are investigating the incident, but it is being speculated that the shooter had some mental illness and was suffering from depression.
