WH: Obama watches ESPN, not GOP

We don't know if President Obama will watch Mitt Romney accept the Republican nomination tonight, but it seems unlikely.

Aides said Obama has seen little or none of this week's Republican convention in Tampa, working instead on presidential duties.

"When the TV is on and the President is in the room, it's usually ESPN," said White House press secretary Jay Carney.

Rest assured, Obama has plenty of people watching -- and commenting on -- the proceedings in Tampa. An army of Democrats is in the Tampa Bay area, conducting news conferences and giving interviews.

Obama also gets a chance to respond to the Republicans at the Democratic convention next week in Charlotte, N.C.

The president is reading some print coverage of Republican activities in Florida.

"He has enormous regard and respect for broadcast reporters," Carney said. " But most of his news he gets through reading."
