Personal Branding in the 21st Century

Personal BrandingGuest Post by Shane Boyd

Sometimes when I talk about personal branding with my peers they’ll get an awkward look on their face and say something like “personal branding, what is that?” You see, we are conditioned to the word “branding”; however “personal branding” seems foreign to many people.

Did you know you are personally branding yourself every day?

It’s true. But allow me to digress for a moment. First, let me give you a definition for personal branding...

Personal branding describes the process by which individuals and entrepreneurs differentiate themselves and stand out from a crowd by identifying and articulating their USP (Unique Selling Proposition), and then leveraging it across platforms with a consistent message and image to achieve a specific goal.

Your "personal brand" is what people think about you when you leave the room.

If you post on Facebook, Linked In, Twitter, Google+ or any other social networking site, then you are building your personal brand literally every day.

But is your personal brand congruent with who you really are?

Is your personal brand helping you succeed in your career?

And is your personal brand one that attracts the kind people you want to work with?

If your answer was NO or I DON’T KNOW to any or all three of the questions I asked, don’t worry. I’m here to help...

Enter Personal Branding for the 21st Century Entrepreneur.

I want to introduce you to a product I created to help Gen X and Millennial entrepreneurs build a stand-out brand that will practically guarantee their success in any niche, any job and in any economy.

In Personal Branding for the 21st Century Entrepreneur I interviewed 8 personal branding experts and asked them how they developed such awesome personal brands and how the average person can do the same.

We cover topics such as:

  • How to identify your best characteristics, build on them and use them as an unbreakable foundation
  • The 3 steps on how to build a winning brand
  • The 10 things you can do every day to get an endless stream of clients
  • How to BEST represent your brand online
  • How to communicate your value to the right people… and limit the time you waste with the wrong people
  • How to create an online and offline presence for career protection and self-promotion
  • Resume writing techniques that professors won’t teach you in college
  • And more…

Personal Branding for the 21st Century Entrepreneur has around 4 hours of valuable personal branding content with transcripts of all the calls so you can take notes while you listen. And yes, it’s an MP3 download so you can play it on your MP3 player. (Besides, who uses CD’s anymore anyway?)

Susan Chritton, one of the experts I interviewed and author of Personal Branding for Dummies has this to say about personal branding:

“Personal branding is about deciding to take an active role in the direction of your life. You benefit from creating a personal brand because it allows you to self-manage your life and stop depending on others to do it for you. Your personal brand helps you make the most of what you’ve got to offer.”

After talking with her I realized I had to take immediate action to correct some of the wrongs I was doing online with social media so I could increase my online sales.

And now it’s time for YOU to take immediate action.
